Prudence Madiba is a professionally registered Electrical engineer with 22 years of work experiences and service to Eskom. She holds a position of General Manager- Research, Testing and Development. In this role she is accountable for the provision of strategic direction and leadership through innovative research, advice on technical direction, analysis, and implementation of operational enhancement opportunities for existing assets, and development of technical skills in Eskom. She is the Chairperson of the Generation Steering Committee of technologies (SCOT)- The objective of this committee is to develop and monitor a governance structure accountable for collaboration on technical issues, technology direction and standardization for the Generation Operating Unit. She is also the Chairperson of the Risk & Sustainability Investment Committee.
Prof. Liezl Van Dyk is the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at North-West University (NWU), a role she has held since 2017. She is the first female dean of the faculty and a registered Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA). With a career spanning 27 years in higher education, Prof. Van Dyk has experience in teaching, research, and senior management.
She holds a PhD in Industrial Engineering from Stellenbosch University, along with two Master’s degrees: one in Industrial Engineering from the University of Pretoria and another in Manufacturing Systems Engineering (with distinction) from the University of Warwick. Her research focuses on technology-driven optimization of service systems, which earned her a National Research Foundation (NRF) rating in 2016. She has supervised many final-year capstone projects and postgraduate studies and published extensively in the fields of engineering education, health systems, and systems engineering.
Prof. Van Dyk is deeply committed to gender equity in STEM and has played a key role in mentoring and supporting young women in engineering. Under her leadership, the faculty has seen an increase in female student enrollment and the appointment of more women in academic and leadership positions. She has also been instrumental in designing and implementing new academic programmes, including qualifications in Industrial, ensuring that NWU’s offerings remain relevant to industry needs.
Betty Mathonsi is a seasoned professional with more than a decade of experience in the automotive sector. She has extensive experience in the following areas: strategic customer experience management, where she focused on enhancing customer satisfaction. Dealer performance management, strategic dealer network development, aftersales parts procurement, and productivity optimisation in the production line. She has made major contributions to the expansion of the automotive retail network in sub-Saharan markets, demonstrating her business acumen beyond the South African market. Betty has consistently driven business growth and operational excellence across her roles.
Her professional endeavors include academic development; she has a foundation in industrial engineering and holds an MBA from GIBS, as well as a LSSBB.
She is adept at leading dealership performance initiatives and driving revenue growth through effective aftersales strategies. Known for her strong leadership, problem-solving abilities, and commitment to continuous improvement, Betty is dedicated to fostering team collaboration and achieving operational excellence. She is fervently dedicated to the development and growth of her team members as well as her own.
She has a wide range of interests that extend beyond my professional responsibilities. When she is not at work, you can find her listening to a good podcast, reading a good personal development book, spending time with her loved ones, hiking, solo travelling, and at times restaurant hoping. She is also very health conscious, so she prioritises staying active and maintaining a balanced diet. After Nissan Gail Joined Johnson Matthey as the Head of Supply Chain steering the Supply chain Team to deliver world class practices to increase profitability and enhance customer experience.
After JM Gail has embarked in an entrepreneurial journey, she provides Mining Logistics Services to the Mining Sector in Rustenburg. Gail was nominated to be part of the Sibanye Still Water’s Women in Mining Program.

Kate Reuss is a qualified Industrial Engineer, having graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand. Kate graduated as the Top Industrial Engineering student, overall Best 4th Year Student, as well as the Top Graduand in the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environmnt. She is currently in her first year of working at EY, in their technology consulting division. Raised in a family of engineers, Kate developed a strong foundation in problem solving and analytical thinking. Three of Kate's university years were during the Covid-19 pandemic. It was during this time that she honed her adaptability and resilience, guided by her firm belief that determination leads to accomplishment. She is eager to expand her expertise in sustainability, and contribute to global initiatives in this field. Outside of her professional pursuits, Kate enjoys hiking, running, playing her clarinet or helping out on her family farm.
