David Kruger holds a D Phil in Engineering management from the University of Johannesburg. He wrote his thesis on Business Process Reengineer and the implementation of Lean at a well known manufacturer. The implementation of his recommendations from the thesis was successfully implemented in 2006. It was at this stage that his interest in Lean and all the associated methods and techniques was piqued. From there his interest developed into areas such as the Cynefin Model, Optimisation as a discipline, 4IR, Systems Thinking and in later years the improvement and Optimisation of Public Health.
His first tentative steps in Higher education started at Technikon Southern Africa in 1997. He then moved to Tshwane University of Technology in 2008. In 2011 he returned to Unisa as an Associate Professor in the School of Engineering, Department of Industrial Engineering until his retirement at the end of 2021. During his time at Unisa he published in more than 10 overseas conference papers in the USA, Canada, Japan and China. He is a reviewer for SAJIE, SAIIE Conference and PICMET conference. He is an examiner of M and D dissertations and thesis at various universities in SA. He is also a supervisor and co supervisor for 3 Master students and 5 PhD candidates. He is a council member and Fellow (FSAIIE) of SAIIE and a member of PICMET.
He is the coauthor of the book Operations Management with Oxford University Press. He worked for 21 years in the aircraft industry in various positions in the IE sphere.

Ngaka Mosia is a Lecturer in the department of Industrial Engineering, in the school of Engineering and a College of Science, Engineering and Technology at the University of South Africa (Unisa). He holds a MPhil in Engineering Management from the University Johannesburg, a BSc (Hons) in Applied Science from the University of Pretoria (UP), a BTech in Industrial Engineering from University of Johannesburg (UJ) and a post graduate certificate in Distance education from the University of Maryland University College (UMUC). He has journal papers, conference papers and posters in engineering management, productivity improvement, Engineering Education, Healthcare process optimization and Online Distance Learning (ODL). His research interests include technology mediated teaching and learning, Productivity improvement through mechanization, System Dynamics, Healthcare value-chain optimization, distance Education, DFMA and 4IR. He is a member of SAIIE & Picmet and Nadeosa & DEASA. His work experience includes a 20yr industry leadership portfolio in various companies and leadership positions, locally and internationally. In addition, he has been in academia for the past 9yrs, as lecturer. Mr Mosia has been awarded the following accolades, relevant awards, fellowships, honors, grants, and academic distinctions: Special Guest: IEOM Conference (Africa) 2018; Outstanding teaching Excellence Award 2018, Second Place: Postgraduate Student Thesis Competition 2018; Excellence in innovation and tuition 2018; Keynote speaker UNESCO & CGS ODeL symposium 2021, and Digital Humanities OER grant 2022. He is a facilitator in various community Engagement project, including the healthcare process optimization project and the Robotics and e-sport school’s project.
